I have canceled our annual camping trip to Yosemite which is a 200 mile drive one way. Gas prices here in California are at $4. 25 for cheapest brand. What are you giving up this summer to save money. From what I can tell… Like my 35'+ Deisel powered motor home, it's going to sit most of the winter. It did the same thing last year while I underwent radiation for cancer. Now my doctors appointments get scheduled at a staggering rate, I can't plan a decent trip so I'll keep my motor home on the Hernando County, FL Airport. In 2006 I took a trip to Alaska from Florida and return. My total fuel use was a little over 1,000 gallons. I have been converting motorhomers that 55 MPH will same them a huge fuel bill. I get 13+ miles to the gallon. When I'm well, we’ll take a set amount of fuel, say 1,000 gallons, look for some place to spend the summer then return to Florida. The 13 miles per gallon for a large motor home is better than many SUV's and expensive autos. If everyone slowed to 55 the would see for them selves.

I own a 1999 1. 0L petrol Seat Arosa. What are some good specific tips for saving fuel with this car? Thank you . After looking around, I learned — There's a few things you can do to save fuel while driving here's my top tips: 1. Slow Down – seriously you will not believe how much fuel you'll save by driving 60mph on the motorway instead of 70mph or 50mph in a 60mph zone. 2. Check Your Tyre Pressures – An under-inflated can use some much more petrol its unreal its something like 1psi changes the angle on your tyre wall by up to 10 degrese meaning you have more tyre on the road increasing friction drag using more petrol. 3. Accelerate Carefully – follow the rule the more revs you use the more petrol your burning if you can pull away slower your going to save a lot of petrol. 4. Change Up Gears Early – this links to my last point if youve changed up gears as early as you safely can then your useing less revs. 5. Slow down Through The Gears – braking is a no go zone for petrol saving your wasting energy as heat through your brakes if you can see the traffic is stopped ahead take your foot off the accelorater and slow down gradually though the gears the traffica may even start moving by the time you get to it meaning you dont have to accelerate away from a stationary point. so to summerise follow the simple rules Less Rev's Less Brake's Veichal Maintenance (but dont do anything to endanger yourself if you have to brake do its not worth crashing just to save some petrol)

Don't carry anything that is unecessary. Put a tonneau cover on the bed. BUT, even if you optimize everything, you shouldn't expect more than 10% improvement, if that. So you would get about 12-13 MPG. That is still going to drain your wallet quickly. Best bet is to sell the truck and get a car.

I make 18 dollars a hour and want to save money and what percentage should go to food entertainment and so on any tips to save thanks. Basically… "Pay yourself first" is a good way to go. Savings of 10-15% should come off the top, be put in the bank or credit union until you have a fair amount saved up as an emergency fund (8 months' living expenses). If your company has a 401k, contribute the max, then personal savings in addition, up to the 10-15% level. Gas: probably can't change this. Food: $50-100/week for a single person, not including eating out. Entertainment: 5-10% depending on how active your social life is (and if you're looking to find a wife.). For comparison, here's a chart with average expenditures for an "average" American (48 years old, with a family): Here's another that gives less info about "who" is doing the spending: Anyway, this will give you some idea of what "average" is. good luck.

Most people are just too plain lazy to try to save money. Our generation is used to instant gratification and waiting for anything is just not in our makeup. For many of us, we would rather pay more for something than be inconvenienced and we go through life making the choice of convenience versus money.

Saving money on gas is one of those choices. Should we take the time to learn and use gas saving driving techniques or is it not worth the hassle? If you make a decision to use grocery coupons, that choice affects you. You either save money at the grocery store or you don’t. Saving money on gas is not quite the same. Implementing gas savings techniques not only save you money at the gas pump, it also helps the environment. You choice therefore, affects other people not only your pocketbook. By wasting gas, you are contributing to the global pollution problem.

Learning to save money on gas is really not a hassle. A easy step-by-step approach will show you just how easy it can be to save gas.

1. Start on the Internet. The Internet is a great source for all sorts of information on how to save gas and how to properly maintain your car to maximize fuel consumption. One great resource is a website called GasBuddy. com. Enter your local zip code an it will tell you which gas stations in your local area have the cheapest gas. That certainly is not much of a hassle.

2. Order products that can make a significant difference in your engines performance and gas mileage. A reusable air filter can easily be ordered online and delivered right to your door. A Google search for “reusable air filter” will tell you what companies carry that product. These air filters last for the life of the car. Clean them yourself of ask the service station to clean them when they change the oil in you car.

3. Using the lightest weight motor oil recommended for for your vehicle. Synthetic oils offer the advantage of lasting longer then regular oil and are better for your engine. Another tip to increase your gas mileage that is not a hassle.

4. Many credit cars give cash back on purchases. If you are the type that pays off your credit cards on time, use these types of credit card to pay for gas. The cash back will be an extra bonus of 1-5% off on your price of gas.

5. Another gas saving product is fuel injector cleaner. This can be ordered from the Internet or can be purchased in auto parts stores, or many other stores that carry auto supplies. Read the directions on these products and they can save you money on gas. These products work especially well on cars more than three years old. They need to be put in several tanks of gasoline, but once the injectors are clean it doesn’t have to be done again until the injectors get dirty again.

While you are ordering some of the other items get a fuel injector cleaner. Again it will be delivered to your door step. Follow the directions on the labels and these products really save money on gas especially on cars over three years old. You will need to pour some of this in your gas tank periodically. This is a little of a hassle but it is only a few times until your fuel injectors are clean. It is worth it to save money on gas.

Dirty air filters and dirty fuel injectors are probably the biggest cause of poor fuel economy.

6. While researching on the Internet, look into hypermiling. This is a technique being used as a gas saving method. Most hypermiling techniques are common sense such as keeping to the speed limit, limit use of air conditioning and cleaning out your car of extra junk. Other techniques such as coasting down hills in neutral are more advanced hypermiling techniques. Hypermiling can increase your fuel economy by 35% or more.

New on the horizon are games that are attached to your steering column and rate your driving habits and how well you do with your gas savings. These games are quite expensive now, but as prices come down, they are an option. Also available is an after market meter that measures your gallons per hour usage and other measurements that also attaches to your steering column. These are quite popular with hypermilers.

Nothing discussed here was much of a hassle, and will go a long way to save you money and will help protect our environment.

Everyone wants to reduce the amount of money they are spending on fuel, but the key to cutting the amount of money you are spending, is to reduce the amount of gas you use. If you save gas, you’ll save money.

Sure, a car that gets good gas mileage will save you money on fuel, but another way to save money is to actually save gas. If you think about it, if you were to reduce your fuel consumption by 10 gallons every week, you will be saving about $40 a week on gas, over a month, that ends up being $160 in savings. It’s easy to notice how if you save gas, you end up saving a good deal of money over the long term.

There really are many ways in which you can save gas, and one of those ways is to combine trips so that you do not have to make as many trips. Though this may seem obvious, combining trips is not done nearly as much as it could be. You save gas when you combine trips because although you are starting and stopping more, your engine is already warmed up so it uses less fuel. You can plan your trip so that you are driving the fewest miles possible. In other words, instead of passing the store on your way home from picking up the kids, you can stop then, instead of making a trip back later to buy bread and milk.

Another thing you can do to save gas is to make certain that your car is in good working order. Change the oil and get a tune up on a regular basis, as well as check the air in your tires for proper air pressure. The better condition your vehicle is in, the smoother it will run, which will also save you gas. Consider using a fuel additive, which could help your engine burn the fuel more efficiently. This will also help you to save gas.

In addition to these suggestions, if you want to save gas you may also want to cut your speed, if at all possible. If you normally drive just a little above the speed limit, as many do; consider driving a few miles below the speed limit; you may be surprised at how much less gas you use. Don’t let high fuel prices get the best of you, just save gas.

With the soaring prices of gas, people are beginning to pay close attention to their gas consumption and search for ways to increase their mileage. Over the years many studies have been conducted on which gas saving tips work best and which have little to no impact what so ever. In this article you will discover the top 10 gas saving tips to help keep more money in your pocket.

Saving Gas Tip #1: Convert your car to a Hydrogen Hybrid. If you have done any research online within the past year on gas saving tips you have probably ran across websites offering Hydrogen Kits for cars and trucks. These are DIY kits that can be built for less then $100 using parts found at your local Home Depot. If you are not familiar with these kits I highly recommend checking them out. Many people claim to increase their gas mileage by 35 – 40%.

Saving Gas Tip #2: Keep your tires properly inflated. Buy a quality tire gauge and check the pressure of your tires. Make sure they are inflated according to the manufactures recommendations. Under inflated tires require additional horsepower to rotate, thus consuming more gas. Most cars list the recommend tire pressure on a plate on the inside driver’s door. If you cannot locate it their it will be listed in the owner’s manual.

Saving Gas Tip #3: Lighten up your load by removing unnecessary weight. Don’t go crazy and rip out your back seats or the insulation but get rid of anything in your trunk, glove box or in the back of your car that you absolutely don’t need. Shedding off weight allows your engine to not work as hard to accelerate the car forward thus using less fuel. This will not be a huge savings unless you make it a habit of keeping your trunk full of crap – but every bit helps and will add up.

Saving Gas Tip #4: Slow down Mario AndrettiAccelerating aggressively forces your vehicle to use maximum gas to achieve your desired speed. Many test have proven that gradual acceleration has a significant impact on your gas consumption so slow down and see what kind of saving you achieve.

Saving Gas Tip #5: Turn on cruise control when you can. You will get your best mileage when using your cruise control but only is you are traveling on a straight road without hills. If there is minimal traffic and you are on a long stretch of highway then turn it on and reap the rewards. Using cruise control in high traffic or roads with hill will have the opposite effect due to the car constantly accelerating/de-accelerating to maintain your set speed.

Saving Gas Tip #6: Fill up at the coolest time of day. Fuel is denser when it’s cool so filling up in the morning or late evening will allow more fuel in your tank.

Saving Gas Tip #7: Remove bicycle or ski racks when not being used. Not only will removing the extra weight help but more important you will be reducing the drag making your vehicle more aerodynamic. This could have a significant savings over a long trip.

Saving Gas Tip #8: How about carpooling? This is not always the preferred method due to inconvenient sometimes, but it’s the single most efficient way to reduce your monthly fuel cost.

Saving Gas Tip #9: Cash in by getting a credit card with 5% rebates on gas, Here is an easy way to knock off 5% off your fuel cost by using it for all your fill ups.

Saving Gas Tip #10: Give your car a tune up. This is only beneficial if your vehicle is due for a tune-up so don’t go out and spend money on a tune up if you just had one several thousand miles ago.

Gas pricing got you worried. . . not me. I discovered a way to lower my fuel cost and increase my mileage by 40%. Discover how and watch informative videos here:

Everybody wants to save gas mileage, especially now that the price of gas has been spiralling rapidly upwards. Gas prices are unlikely to come down significantly for a long time, if ever. So how would you like to save gas mileage by up to 40% or more and save up to $1. 60 or more per gallon?

Tips from the AAA and Department of Energy in the U. S and the RAC in the U. K. show you exactly how to save gas mileage big-time and fast. Here are five of the top gas mileage saving tips. The bonus is that, following these tips will not only save gas mileage but will enable your car to last for a longer time:

1. Probably the most important tip to save gas mileage with the most immediate and noticeable result is to drive smoothly. Heavy acceleration followed by sudden and heavy use of the brake will cause your car to consume much more gas than if you were to accelerate smoothly and take more time to slow down. Changing your driving habits as advised will have a dramatic effect on the amount of gas you use – and your wallet! The U. S. Department of Energy estimates that drivers can save up to 33% of their gas by driving the speed limit and driving sensibly. Assuming a gas price of $3. 84 that’s a saving of up to $1. 26 per gallon.

2. Nearly as important as the first tip and, again, with quick, noticeable results – check your tire pressures regularly and always keep them properly inflated. If you don’t know the recommended pressure for the tires of your vehicle – go find out and write them down on a card you can keep in your vehicle to remind you what the correct pressures are. Tires that are not properly inflated cause much more drag on the road and that means the engine has to put more energy into getting the wheels rolling and, according to the RAC this can consume 2% more gas. So to save gas mileage keep your tires properly inflated and you’ll notice the difference.

3. How well your vehicle is maintained has an affect on gas usage. A well-maintained car will be more efficient and waste less gas. Things like keeping the spark plugs clean and in good working order and changing the engine oil at correct times as well as many other aspects of vehicle maintenance all influence how efficiently your car uses gas. If you have not had your car checked out in a while you are probably using up more gas than an exact same vehicle that has just been in maintenance. The other advantage of a well-maintained vehicle is that it’s safer to drive and will last longer.

4. The heavier the load in your car the more gas you use. Removing unnecessary loads to lighten the vehicle will make it easier for the engine to get the car moving and keep it moving and save gas mileage. The U. S. Department of Energy estimates that you can save up to 2% per gallon just by removing those golf clubs or other unnecessary weight from the trunk. At current gas prices that’s saving about 7. 5 cents per gallon!

5. If your car has cruise control make sure you use it, especially on long journeys on the Interstate. Recent studies by edmunds. com revealed that you can save an astounding 7 percent of gas using cruise control at highway speeds. At current gas prices that’s worth about 26 cents per gallon. If you don’t have cruise control, try and keep your speed as steady as possible and within the speed limits. Avoid the temptation to gas-it to catch up with the vehicle in front.

There are many more ways to save gas mileage. Some save more than others with more rapid results, but in these days of sky-high gas prices even small savings can mount up to a significant amount over a few months. Drivers who want to save gas mileage do not have to make big sacrifices. All it takes is a little education in finding out what will save gas and making sure you act on that information. Even the small changes, when used in combination, can have big results and save a great deal of money. So start putting these tips in to practice today. Your pocketbook will thank you!

Live. Pirillo. Com – We all cringe when we pull up to the gas pumps these days. Unfortunately, our griping won’t lower the prices at the pump. Here are some tips sent in by a reader to help you conserve gasoline, and hopefully save you some money.

Do you know what is the best gas saving solution for an average guy? Well, the surprising fact is that it doesn’t need a lot of cash and absolutely nothing so technical about it. You don’t need to change your car to a hybrid or a smaller one or to buy and install any expensive gadget.

In my search for a better way to save money on gas, I’ve discovered some very simple yet effective ways that can give you an immediate saving on gas and your cash of course. No harm trying it out yourself as it requires not much additional effort anyway.

Okay, the very first tip and the most effective gas saving method is simply your driving attitude. I was kind of surprise to find that I still have 1/4 tank of gas left from my normal schedule to refill once a week after changing my driving attitude. So, what kind of driving attitude I have changed and adopted that boost my gas mileage? Here are some of them:

* Don’t speed up fast – I tend to be first to pick up fast and leave all cars behind right immediately after the red light turns green. But the fact is, sudden acceleration by slamming hard on the accelerator pad can be the most gas consuming reason. So, avoid doing it and practice to have your car accelerate gradually and you’ll notice some gas saving almost within a week.

* Use the brake appropriately – When you are reaching a red light, try slowing down to avoid from a full stop and by chance it might turns green by the time you reached. The logic is very simple – you’ll consume more gas during acceleration and especially during a pick up from zero. So, try to get the most out of the inherent momentum while the car is still moving. In other words, you’ll save gas to accelerate even from as low as 5 to 10 miles per hour than from a full stop.

* Avoid speeding up fast and avoid making sudden brake especially when you are in a heavy traffic. Many people are very impatient and tend to do this. But the fact is, they will not get anywhere faster.

* Below or at par with the speed limit – If you are not convenient to drive below the speed limit then please don’t go over it. Other than for safety reason, I also find that these limit are what best suite my car to optimize the gas usage. This however depends on the type of cars and technology it’s using.

* Reduce weight – Simply offload your car from excessive and unnecessary burden. Check your car bonnet and the behind seats to see if there are unnecessary items to be removed. It’s a simple physic actually that you’ll need more energy to move a heavier object. So, the heavier your car loads, the more gas is needed to move it.

* Avoid idling too long – This will not save much of your gas but in event that you know you’ll be idling for long (waiting for somebody etc. ) you would better turn off your car and go to a coffee shop nearby to have a drink. It does save a little.

* Turning off your air cond – This will very much depends on the type of your car and the area or weather that you’re in. If it’s an old technology running on a carburetor like mine, then turning off the air cond and slide down your window a little bit will give some saving on your gas. Make sure you don’t slide down your window too low as the air going inside can cause turbulence that consume more gas instead and especially when you’re driving along the highway.

* Try another gas station / gas brands – Whether you’re living in a country where your government regulating the gas prices or not, testing out different gas brands can give you some surprise findings too. I cannot say for sure if the gas saving I’m enjoying was due the brand that I have changed or that of my habit, but somehow, I confidently believe that different brands blend with different formulations that somewhat one brands might give your more mileage than the other.

* Use Credit Cards / Loyalty Cards – Take advantage on the immediate rebate that you can get offered by some credit card issuer or some gas brands with their loyalty card. I save approximately 1. 5% of the gas price I paid with my credit cards. Just check them out and I bet there are many choices to choose from.

. Well, I have your answer right here. I have the gas milage for my 99 cavalier, my spouses 96 caprice, and my moms 07 impala, and my step dads 95 jeep and his 07 truck. . cannot think of what it is. But my parents are fanatical about keeping gas milage records, and I have it all on my computer. And the impala gets the best milage on cheep gas, and I run premium in my car and it gets the same as the impala gets on cheep gas. I think you need to be a lil more specific than an old car and a new car. And then ofcourse, the octane rating you use as well as how you drive it and if your car is tuned up will all effect that. Beyond that. . even though the gas milage is higher, with the current rate of increase of gas, you are still going to be spending the same amount. And then, ofcourse, you have to take into account the purchase price of the new car which is going to be more than the old car, and they car payment, expecially if you dont have one right now
